Privacy policy

This explains what we do with the details you give us on solarsales.ie, in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us and we'll explain.

Who we are

Solar Sales is the trading name of Sam Collins, a sole trader. Sam is responsible for your data (the "controller").

What we collect

When you send the call-back form, we receive:

• your name, company and mobile number
• the figures you set in the calculator (ad spend, job value, margin, cost per lead and cost per sale) and the results it worked out
• basic technical details: your IP address, browser type, the page you were on, the time you sent it, and any campaign tags in the link you used (for example utm_source or fbclid)
• Meta's ad cookies (_fbp and _fbc), if they exist. This site doesn't currently use Meta's tracking, so normally there are none.

If you message us on WhatsApp, we also get your WhatsApp number and anything you send.

If you only use the calculator and don't send the form, nothing you enter leaves your browser.

Why we use it

• To call you back about your numbers and whether we can help. This is a step you asked us to take, and it's in our legitimate interest to respond.
• To keep a record of the enquiry in our CRM, so we can follow up and avoid calling you twice. This is our legitimate interest in running the business.
• To measure our own advertising. If you reached us through a Facebook or Instagram ad, we may tell Meta that a form was sent, with your technical details and hashed contact details, so we can see which ads work.

We don't sell your details, and we don't add you to a marketing email list.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of services to run the site and the business. They process your details for us, under contract:

• Cloudflare hosts the website and passes the form to our CRM.
• GoHighLevel is our CRM, where enquiries are stored and where call and message alerts come from.
• Google Workspace runs our email, and Google Fonts supplies the fonts on this site (so Google sees your IP address when the page loads).
• Meta, for ad measurement as described above, and WhatsApp if you message us there.

Some of these companies store data outside Ireland and the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by approved safeguards, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for up to 2 years after we last spoke, unless you become a client, in which case we keep them for as long as we work together and as long as the law requires afterwards. You can ask us to delete them sooner.

Cookies

This site doesn't set any cookies of its own, and there are no analytics or advertising trackers on it. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from bots. If we add analytics or Meta's tracking in future, we'll ask for your consent first and update this page.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

• give you a copy of the details we hold about you
• correct anything that's wrong
• delete your details
• stop or limit how we use them, or object to that use
• send your details to you or another company in a usable format

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland (dataprotection.ie) or the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK (ico.org.uk). We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

Changes

If we change how we use your details, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
